Shop Small & Local by Tory

With Thanksgiving break right around the corner, the main thing on every fashionista’s mind is kicking off the holiday shopping season. This year I urge you to skip risking your life at the malls and department stores, and support your local businesses. While you’re home for the holiday break, take a trip to your unique hometown boutiques and shops. Local stores keep our communities and local economies vibrant, and give us a deeper connection with the products we’re purchasing.

Branching off of the shop small movement, this year marks the second annual Small Business Saturday. Wedged between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Small Business Saturday falls on November 26th this year. American Express has been promoting Small Business Saturday with some kind of cash-back incentive deal, which is all well and good, but not the main point of the day. Shopping small fuels the economy and helps keep the big corporations from having too much power over consumers. Plus, its a lot safer than getting mauled in the ridiculous crowds at Macy’s.
