Trickle Down Trends, By Andrew and Laura

After looking at the couture fashion shows of Fall 2006, Fall 2008, and Fall 2010, we found certain trends making several reappearances.  Several designers such as Giorgio Armani Prive, Jean Paul Gaultier, Christian Dior, Elie Saab, Chanel, and more have shown their adaptations of these trends in colors, prints, and textiles.  While these trends have started out at the top of the fashion cycle, they have slowly infiltrated the street level fashion over the past five years–a phenomenon known as the “trickle down theory.” You may be wearing some of these trends without knowing their avant-garde origins!

From these fashion shows, we have found that the most prominent themes in color were nude, midnight blue, and bold prints; and in textiles they were sheer and shimmering/metallic.
